Exchange 2003 on SBS 2003.  How to forward email for a user to an external email address.

I am migrating from a SBS 2003 server to Hosted Exchange.  Trying to co-exist with Exchange Online and Exchange on premise with SBS 2003 during migration.

Followed instuctions to create a mail enabled contact using these instructions http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281926
but only have an option for Exchange Tasks of "Delete E-Mail Address" and "Remove Exchange Attributes".  I dont have an option to "Establish email addresses".

Need to forward all mail to an external email address.  Thanks.

As i recall, to create a mail contact for Exchange 2003, you must using  Active Directory Users/Computer on server running Exchange 2003.

Based on your description is seem that you did create a mailbox user not mail contact.

Do you select a contact?

How to create a contact

Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
Expand the server, and then right-click Users.
Click New, and then click Contact.
Type a name.
Click Modify, click SMTP, and then click OK to create the custom SMTP mail address.
Type the SMTP e-mail address, click OK, click Next, and then click Finish.

I did create a Contact.  I didnt realize I was able to define the SMTP email address as an external address while creating the contact.  The only other thing I had to do was go to AD, click on the user, properties, Exchange General Tab, Delivery Options and Forward to the Contact I just created.
