woocommerce gateway

Hi, I am going to install woocommerce supscriptions and am looking for a gateway which is better than paypal for Canada. I need one which can handle recurring payments properly. Paypal splits up payments if initial payment is greater than the subscription. Can you suggest any?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I believe you will end up looking at custom code or paid services from card handlers for something that will integrate the way you are looking for.

Moneris or other card handlers are bound by PCI - the rules which surround Card Holder information.  These rules are very tough when it comes to keeping card holder information for things like delayed or recurring payments.  I didn't see a plugin available for Moneris so you may need to have one developed.

I would look at the Quantum Gateway.  It will store all the credit card numbers for you. You can then bill the customer every month thru the API if you wish, the same amount or different amount.  The gateway will then confirm / deny the transaction, giving you the opportunity to contact the customer to update / his or her information.

The gateway is $8.00a month and no transaction fees.  It comes with a bunch of vetting tools built into the gateway, so you do not need to connect to another service and pay for that service.

(Assumption - you are a US business).

Otherwise, you might take a look at PayPal, CCAvenue, or DigitalRiver (or another Name).  Keep in mind these companies might offer you a merchant account or third party processing.  Sometimes it is better to use a third party with subscriptions because of chargebacks.  You have more control over a merchant account of course.

The discount rate is somewhere between 1.95 - 2.05% possibly and a transaction free of $.25-$.30.

The API is similar to Authorize.net.  The merchant account requires no monthly minimum and no contracts.

If you are having problems, you might find a developer to help you with the API.
