The updates cross platforms. You do not need both. Anything you can do in QB Pro can be done in QB Premier. The database will work in either version.

So uninstall QB Pro and just use QB Premier.

Hi John, Thanks for the Note.

This is a bookkeepers computer and I am her client.

She has dozens of clients all on different Versions I am on 2014-Pro

What she wants is when she opens a client Database (2013-Pro) it wants to open it in Premier.

How can I help her stop that?

She wants the Pro Database to open in quickbooks pro (ONLY) - Not premier

and the Premier Databases to open in Quick books Premier (ONLY)

Just to clarify

You can open and use one QB database with both Pro and Premier at the very same time. SAME basic product and database, just some extra reporting in Premier. I have done this. There is no need for Pro and Premier on the same computer and it is not supported.
I hope this helps you client.

Thanks John,

I understand your response,...the  Issue is when the bookkeeper goes to lets say John's office he has Quickbooks Pro.

If she opens your database, Which automatically  opens in Premier on her Laptop and wants to upgrade.

lets say ......She Accidentally clicks on Upgrade...

Now After she leaves you cannot open your quickbooks because it says that

you now have to upgrade to premier.....

would you be happy?

That is my problem.

She goes to several offices a day and connects to the client database from her laptop.

You cannot install both Pro and Premier on the same computer. That is your issue. It is not supported.

Pick one or the other and uninstall what you don't want.

If after uninstall Premier (say) and Pro says it needs to be upgraded, then uninstall ALL QuickBooks and restart the computer. Now install (say) just Pro and it will work correctly.

Once you have one version of QuickBooks properly installed and updated, it will work with the database. Of course, ALL computers need to be at the same "R" update level. They can be either Premier or Pro, but all versions must be at the same "R" level. That is because, some QB updates cause database updates.

I cannot help further. I have been using QuickBooks for years. What your user is doing is wrong and not supported.

You do not need Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro on the same computer.
You do not need Office Standard and Office Pro on the same computer.

Premier and Pro do the SAME thing on the SAME database at the SAME time.

There is no need to try to have both running and both updating.

Nothing more I can do. Sorry.

I have learned from Intuit since you posted this and I responded that Intuit has changed their licensing and subscription terms. We are see that Intuit email at clients.

This is likely why you might have been able to do this before (ALWAYS the wrong thing to do) and cannot do it now.

Nonetheless, the correct answer is to pick one or the other (probably Premier) and use it. Your client does not need both as I showed to you earlier.

This Configuration is not Supported as John Mentioned...How it worked for 2 years is the Miracle.

How this Problem evolved is one of her clients upgraded the Database with an Update patch so

She inadvertently updated her Pro with the same patch....Thus became this Disaster.....

We ended up going with a Cloud Server with Enterprise-25 Licenses and sold one to each of her clients.

They have their own Virtual Desktop and when they Login they get only their Data

When the Bookkeeper or her Employees login they see all databases and can work on them.

Solution has been found.

Thanks John
