Samsung galaxy can't add or edit calendar

events are populating from the google cloud
but unable to save a new or edit an existing event.
i updated the OS. i don't see any evidence that the app software has updated recently. i've seen other phones with download on wifi only not update apps correctly.

Can you be more specific? What do you mean when you say "unable to save a new or edit an existing event"? Are you getting an error? Or is it simply not syncing?

now i can edit events but if i create an event, it saves and disappears. if i search TEST, it conveniently prepopulates the specific name of the events i tried to create but shows no such event in the calendar on any device
the other software finally updated but there's another anomaly. There's supposed to be a BLOCKING MODE under SETTINGS according to multiple recent postings on credible websites. but there is no such option.

thanks, you are correct, new events are added to 'my calendar'.
unlike contacts there is no parallel option to choose which calendars show under calendar settings.
how do i make gmail the default calendar?
RANT: why does it not default to google when you add that calendar? i am singularly unimpressed with this phone. it has the most poorly designed settings menus i've ever seen and the craziest default configurations. i don't understand why it is so highly rated
