Samsung galaxy can't add or edit calendar

Samsung Galaxy S5 Droid linked to google account

events are populating from the google cloud

but unable to save a new or edit an existing event.

i updated the OS. i don't see any evidence that the app software has updated recently. i've seen other phones with download on wifi only not update apps correctly.

Can you be more specific? What do you mean when you say "unable to save a new or edit an existing event"? Are you getting an error? Or is it simply not syncing?

now i can edit events but if i create an event, it saves and disappears.  if i search TEST, it conveniently prepopulates the specific name of the events i tried to create but shows no such event in the calendar on any device

the other software finally updated but there's another anomaly.  There's supposed to be a BLOCKING MODE under SETTINGS according to multiple recent postings on credible websites.  but there is no such option.

when you add an event, it has a field that lets you pick which calendae you're adding it to. I'll bet that you're adding it to a different calendar, and you have that calendar set up not to be displayed. So, that's why it disappears after you add it,but still shows up in the search results

thanks, you are correct, new events are added to 'my calendar'.

unlike contacts there is no parallel option to choose which calendars show under calendar settings.

how do i make gmail the default calendar?

RANT: why does it not default to google when you add that calendar? i am singularly unimpressed with this phone.  it has the most poorly designed settings menus i've ever seen and the craziest default configurations.  i don't understand why it is so highly rated

Regarding your rant -- I always tell people to stay away from Samsung phones. They always try to reinvent the wheel, and they make their own apps to replace Google's built-in apps, and all of Samsung's apps are by far worse than the originals.

Having said that, I'm almost positive that there is an option to change the calendar when adding a new appointment. That field that says that it's adding the appointment to "my calendar" should be clickable, and it will let you pick a different calendar. But I don't have access to that phone, so I can't veryfy that for sure.

However, if for some ungodly reason Samsung did get rid of that option, then your best bet would be to disable their calendar app altogether, and download something better, like Business Calendar 2

for the record, his MY CALENDAR was set up to display but was not, only showing the google calendar.  by removing it from the calendars to display under settings, it stopped showing up as the default or an option at all to add new events.
