We have a separate Mailbox and Hub server exchange 2010 / Server 2008 environment and we have Forefront server Protection and Forefront Online Protection for Exchange installed, which I need to uninstall as it is expired and we are no longer using it.

From https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd639350.aspx, it mentions that the Information Store needs to stop along with restarting other services. Is this still relevant when forefront is only installed on the hub server? ie will it try and stop the information store on the mailbox server?

Those instructions are presuming all roles on the server, which is Microsoft best practise.

As you do not, they don't apply to you, so the information store will not be stopped during the uninstallation process.

Thanks Simon! I thought that would be the case but just wasn't 100% sure
