If you had a basic website - say www.acme.com - and you wanted users to enter a simple username and password before being able to see www.acme.com - is that trivial to setup in IIS? How? Thank you.

If you mean have a popup to enter username/password just enable basic authentication for the site and disable anonymous. create a group to add users and grant that group access to that sites folders/files. If you chose this make sure SSL is enabled and required.

If you mean some kind of login section on the page like most internet facing sites use, you would have to build that into the site during development.

If you want to automatically login users that are part of active directory, in an intranet environment for example, enable integrated authentication and disable anonymous authentication.

Just the popup username/password. Perhaps even anonymous would be ok. We ran into a script that's spamming a form with junk data on our test web site. We might implement a captcha - but perhaps the basic auth would work.
