How to find drupal installation path and administrator interface?

I am helping my developer for some virtual hosts issue. I don't know where I can find the installation folder for drupal. Also, when I tried to open the administrator's webpage, it gave me access denied error.

Please help.

Drupal is usually installed in the web root for the domain. It will contain index.php, cron.php, install.php, and several other files and directories.

To access the admin area, visit example.com/user to log in with your administrator credentials. Once logged in you will be able to access example.com/admin

I have four sites configured one this server. the apache configuration file is at /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.

The content in this file is as below:

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerAdmin ktan@lacare.org,bhoang@lacare.org
    DocumentRoot /var/www/lac2014/html
    ServerName devw.lacare.org
    ServerAlias devw dorrington.lacare.org dorrington
    <Directory "/var/www/lac2014/html">
      AllowOverride All
    </Directory>
    ErrorLog /var/www/lac2014/logs/error.log
    #`CustomLog /var/log/httpd/access.log
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
   ServerAdmin ktan@lacare.org,bhoang@lacare.org
   DocumentRoot /var/www/duals/html
   ServerName devcal.lacare.org
   ServerAlias  devcal
   ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/error.log
   <Directory "/var/www/duals/html">
     AllowOverride All
   </Directory>
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot /var/www/devcov/html
    ServerName devcov.lacare.org
    ServerAlias devcov
    <Directory "/var/www/devcov/html">
      AllowOverride All
    </Directory>
   ErrorLog /var/www/logs/devcov_error.log
</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *:80>
 DocumentRoot /var/www/html
  ServerName devleg.lacare.org
  ServerAlias devleg
  ErrorLog /var/www/logs/legacy_error.log
</VirtualHost>

After I set up, I am able to open the first  and the last virtual websites. but the second one and third one don't open. How could I trouble shoot for this?

This webserver is a clone of the production one. Do you think it's a database problem? Can I dump the database for each website to a sql file and import it into the one on the test server.

Thanks.

when I tried to access the install.php script for the site devcov.lacare.org/install.php, it doesn't show anything.

I think you are asking a different question now... did you find the Drupal installation directory?

Jason YuAuthor Commented:
yes, it's under /var/www

Aaron FeledyDrupal Developer and ConsultantCommented:
That seems wrong. It should be /var/www/devcov/html if devcov.lacare.org is the site you are using.

HI, Arrow, thank you for your help. I got it resolved by removing .htaccess file.

May I ask what this file for? If I want to learn how to configure this file, where can I learn?

thanks.
