We are using Sophos and are looking for a technical resources to assist with a challenging situation.

We are using Sophos for our anti-virus software.  We have mobile data computers that are not on the domain and we need to put Sophos on those MDC's and be able to manage them with the Sophos Management Appliance.  How can we do this?

This has discussion already on the use case and possible means - do check that.
Can Enterprise Console manage these non domain computers? I can find these computers by using "find by IP address" option.

The updating policy (for this group of clients) could use an IP address to ensure that the clients can resolve the server.  If the SEC server has a static IP, the clients would resolve the server by IP anyway for messaging.

Be wary on "Sophos agent installation on a workgroup machine is giving an error"

Other list of option is shared in "How to install Endpoint Security and Control manually on networked computers" which either go

> Manual installation, (most likely but tedious for start)
http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/12386.aspx#manual

or
> Scripted and automated installation (may not be necessary SCCM but via network share or repository that can reach) http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/114191.aspx

or
> Computers not always on the network (do need to configure update from an alternative source when they are away).

For the last two, may be alternate source like common web page hosted by company to get the installation instruction and package too...e.g. http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/38238.aspx
