DTMF to Exchange UM from the Bahamas over Cell phone

So we have some employees who travel to the Bahamas not infrequently. They all have iphones on the AT&T network. The issue: they need to call into an Exchange Unified Messaging IVR but the DTMF signaling is spotty - sometimes it works with multiple key presses, sometimes not all all and sometimes it does work. The DTMF for IVR interaction seems to work fine from most places in the US and other places. I think my hands are tied from making this work better in that the infrastructure and end to end call quality is s function of what is in place. But I wanted to ping the EE Telco community if you had any other thoughts. The call path:

[iPhone 5s]--{Bahamas cell tower and phone infrstructure]--{undersea cable}--{AT&T network}--{XO Communications} --{SIP trunk to Our Co}--[Cisco 3845]--[MS Unified Messaging for Exchange]

So check and see how you are handling DTMF --

Here is some back group but from an Asterisk point of view.

What knobs can be tweaked for DTMF that might still allow DTMF to work from North America AND from the Bahamas?

Sorry, I have not played with this.  Another expert might be able to add more input here, or call Cisco Tech Support if you have a current support agreement.

It's a tricky problem because #1 I don't want to break the part that's mostly working and #2 we don't have anyone in the islands to test. (Although I have selflessly volunteered.)

For a small professional services fee, I could take a trip down to help test  if you are needed i the office.   :-)  

But seriously,   the settings due matter, even in the US, so I would talk with Cisco or what ever source you use for support on the switch.
