I recently got a Droid Turbo by MOTO but when I go into the People app I see all my contacts have strings of HTC code in the notes section. My old HTC phone had this awesome feature where it would sync my contacts profile picture on facebook with there contact info on my phone. Im sure this is left over code from that feature. How can I remove that old HTC code without having to simply delete it manually one contact at a time?

Here is an example:
<HTCData><Facebook>id:1234555555/friendof:512345555</Facebook></HTCData>

You can do this through your Google Contacts on a PC. Here's the steps you need to follow:

1

In your Gmail account that you also use on the phone, click on the Gmail pulldown at the top lift, and select "Contacts"

2

Click the "More" dropdown box and select "Export"

3

Make sure you've selected "All Contacts" and the "Outlook CSV" format. Once you've downloaded it, use Excel to open the the file.

4

Go to the "Notes" column in the spreadsheet, find any cells with HTC data (you can use search for this), and delete the data

5

Save the file with a new name just in case you messed something up (but keep the CSV file type! Excel may want to change this to an XLSX file).

6

Go back to you Gmail contacts and delete all your contacts (Note: Before this step, you can also export a Google CSV file of all your contacts for backup. You can also use the "More > Restore" feature to go back to a previous point in time if something goes wrong.

7

Import your new (edited) CSV file
Once you've done this, your Google contacts will be back to the way they were, except without the HTC data. You may have to restart your phone to have all the contacts refreshed in the phone itself. Also this may removed any connected photos that originated from Facebook.

By the way, you can select and delete everything in the Notes column in seconds, but if you have other notes you want to keep, you can also hand-edit the cells to remove the HTC data without removing the other notes.
