In Wamp server send smtp email to Rackspace mail from php code

running WAMP server on win7 pro. I need a simple, php smtp email function to send a user their user id and password through our rackspace mail account, when they click on a "Forgot Login" button. I have the ssl and auth info from rackspace and I have the users info from our mysql user table. Everything I've seen as open source so far seems like much more than I need.

WAMP server does not include a SMTP server so you can't use the built-in 'mail()' function in PHP.  You can use PHPMailer which can connect to a remote mail server with a login.  It may look like a lot but there is no 'simple' way to do it.  Click on "Download ZIP" on this page: https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer   After you understand how it works, there are only 3 or 4 files that you need for your own use.  Most of the files are tests and examples.

Thank you. I understand all of that.
the link you provided just lists off a list of various downloads, which isn't very helpful to a newbie. What would be helpful is there a zip that contains the files that are needed (smtp, phpmailer, pear etc..), or a list of files that are required, such as
class.phpmailer.php, class.smtp.php, etc... For something that supposedly is the most used php mailer with 9+ million users getting the basic info seems a bit kludgey.

No argument there.  But since it is Open Source and not commercially supported, that's not unusual.  But I did say...

Click on "Download ZIP"   Install (unzip) it into directories in your web server.  Go thru the examples until you understand what you need.  This is not going to be an instant solution.

You're welcome, it can be a pain when you first use it.
