MySQL56 service won't start upon fresh install

Hi,

i'm having difficulties installing MySQL Server 5.6.23 on a new server.

The MySQL installer stops when trying to attempt to start the MySQL56 service.

"Service MySQL56 changed status from StartPending to Stopped ..."

OS is MS Windows Server 2012 R2
64-bit OS, X64-based processor
16GB RAM (15,9 usable)

The .err log says "innobase_buffer_pool_size can't be over 4GB on 32-bit systems"
which is strange because it is a 64bit system

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling a previous mysql version, but that also fails at the same event.

All help is welcome.

This is my .err log:

Looks to me like you are trying to install a 32-bit version.

C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\bin\mysqld.exe

Look here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/

When i follow the 64bit download link on the second page there is a message like this.

"Note: MySQL Installer is 32 bit, but will install both 32 bit and 64 bit binaries."

During installation i was never asked to chose between 32bit or 64bit.

Hi,

Thanks it was in fact the 32 bit it was trying to install.

For some reason if you select 'full' in stead of custom it doesn't recognize X86 or X64.

so i chose custom and manually chose X64

Thanks that helped.
