htaccess help please

Hi Experts

I recently registered a couple of domains and transferred and existing domain to a new host. As I havent modded an htaccess file for years here I am asking for help.

Ok the basic story is I have domain1.com domain2.com domain3.com, domains 1 & 2 are new and the 3rd is transferred, I have one lot of hosting, so having to use multiple folders for the 2 sites I host. The hosting package is 'bound' to domain 1 and I can redirect domain 2 (domains 1 and 2 are the same business) and that works great as its the same domain name with a .co.nz and a .kiwi on the other

But what I have had to do to get it to work is have www.domain3.com redirecting to www.domain1.com/site2/index.html what what I want to present is either www.domain3.com or domain3.com/index.html

Ive googled a lot but can't find anything for my specific situation, can anyone help me with the code for the .htaccess file ?

Thanks

You tagged this 'cpanel' but don't mention cPanel in your question.  Are you managing your hosting with an actual cPanel-based hosting account?

Yes, cpanel based, have access to the .htaccess file by ftp only though.

Ok so I solved this myself, seems a bit of a trend here lately. Turns out what I needed was a 'transparent rewrite" covered here - http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Transparently_redirect_your_root_directory_to_a_subdirectory this lead me in the right direction..
