We bought these computers for the 6th graders in our school.  Now I see that I can't upgrade the ram and the machines are slow and occassionally freeze.  Can I disable some programs and/or do anything else that would make them function better?

Thanks!

Of course you can uninstall any unneeded software that is running on them, replace the AV tool with something light, like Panda Antivirus. Check the startup items and only start what really is needed at bootup. Disable crapps that "phone home".
