i have been researching the windows update error
no error number just message stating that it cannot get to windows update site
otherwise able to get to internet without issue
downloaded KB947821 file but I get an error that says it is not the correct windows version
I have downloaded the SBS and plain windows 2008 .msu files and got the error both times
on the server itself when I right click on computer and go to properties
shows windows server standard FE, service pack 2
all help is greatly appreciated

Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter site (various OS)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

See if any of the suggestions bear fruit.

Also, run System File Checker. Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator and run SFC /SCANNOW. Allow to complete, restart the server and test.
