Cisco SG300 Training

Hi Experts,

I'm hoping you can help me, I will start out saying I am not a Cisco person.

We have 2 Cisco ASA 5500 switches here where I work.  We have to do some moving around of them and I (thought) I would be able to outsource a Cisco consultant but it's not looking like this is possible and they have informed me that I need to take care of configuring and managing these switches....

Again, I am not a Cisco person, I am a Windows Admin.  I am really not interested in getting my certification at all and I cannot explain to them that it isn't just something I can "figure out," but is there a place or could you recommend training where I could learn on my own about these switches to manage them, or should I just find another job?

I have a pluralsight subscription but have no clue where to start.

Thank you,

Karen

Hi Karen

First, the ASA 5500 is a Firewall and not a Switch, I suggest to use ASDM (ASA GUI Interface) witch will be easier to you instead of CLI.

You can refer to Cisco documentation here:

Cisco ASA Series Documentation:  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/roadmap/asaroadmap.html

Cisco ASA 5500 Series Configuration Guide using ASDM:  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa83/asdm63/configuration_guide/config.pdf

Cisco ASA 5500 Series Configuration Guide using the CLI:  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa83/configuration/guide/config.pdf

Best Regards.
