asked on Do I need to do anything to AD before installing server 2012 R2
We do not have any servers running server 2012 R2 in our enviroment and I am getting ready to create the first 2012 R2 server which will not be a domain controller or will just be a standalone server. Do I need to do anything to AD first or can I just install the new server with 2012 R2?
I think I can just install it since it will not be a DC but just wanted to be sure.

Ok so nothing has to be done to AD then unless we were adding a new DC correct?

yes it is 2008 R2
Right as long as it won't be your first 2012 DC you are all set. That being said although not necessary you may want to add the gpo templates for windows 8 and 2012...http://everythingshouldbevirtual.com/upgrade-gpo-templates-on-server-2008-r2-with-windows-8server-2012
