IE has stopped working
error message keeps popping up...... IE has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available
Try to reset IE to default settings

i did what was suggested by MS and did a reset with no luck. If that isn't the same, how to get to default setting?

I have to comment on my findings. In my google search I found a recent posting indicating that a Norton Update on Feb. 21, 2015 has caused a problem with IE. After reading this just for giggles I did a Norton Update again after hours of System Restores and other issues. Just to make it brief, I just took 2 Norton updates and IE has been open ever since your last several postings and the Error Message has disappeared. Ill keep IE open all nite and see what happens. So far so good. Can you please check your sources for me to make sure this is so? Or is the Error Message/Closing IE has stopped working has gone to sleep for the nite :-) Please check and let me kno.

Even if you think it is now working, you might try the follow to make sure IE 11 is working properly.
Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, and then Windows Features. Remove IE. This forces a restart. Now go back to the same place and add IE. This forces another restart.
Now run Windows Updates and test IE again.
I have IE 11 running on Window 8.1 Pro and Windows 7 Pro and both with the newest version of Symantec Endpoint (which is NOT Norton) and IE works smoothly.
I did the above procedure on my Windows 8.1 machine some months back to make IE more reliable and that worked.

I appreciate the info. The only question I have is when I do this, will I LOOSE all my settings, tools bars etc. when I complete this task?

Yes. removing / re-adding IE removes settings and toolbars and you WANT to do this to stabilize IE.

Thank you for the info. I currently am running Win 7 Pro. Thanks again to all

actually I have tired everything posted and nothing worked, However, I did realize that it was yahoo mail that was causing the issue with IE 11, so rather than delete and reinstall IE 11 with help from a friends, I decided to let it go and went away for about 5 days and left my PC on as I do all the time. When I returned home, I tired keeping yahoo mail open in IE 11 now for about 3 days now and everything seems ok. IE isn't closing anymore and I did take on WINDOWS update when I got home. I don't kno if it was fixed by MS or by yahoo but the issue seems to have been resolved by something or someone other than the info posted here and I really do appreciate the help. I think this issue bears mentioning and posted in case anyone else had issues with IE 11 and hopefully they found out like I did, that it was Yahoo mail. I will admit that I kept yahoo mail open in Firefox when I was away and when I came back it didn't affect Firefox. Do to sum up, the issue with opeing yahoo mail and or keeping it open has resolved itself and I have no indication as to why but I wish I knew.
