Hyper V Server 2012 R2 validation says patches needed. Console says otherwise

I have 3 Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 (the free version) servers in a cluster. The cluster has been running for almost a  year now, and has validated in the past.

Now though the validation wizard fails and tells me (among other things) that one or more of the machines needs a few updates.

Except that when I go to the console of those hosts and choose option 6 (Download and Install Updates) it comes back and tells me no updates are needed.

How do I fix this? Is there a way to reset the list of updates and have it run through the list and validate them all from scratch?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The validation list checks the installed patches on a machine. The console checks for "approved" patches on an update server. This means you can get a discrepancy if you are running WSUS and an update is not approved (common) or an update was installed on one machine but then pulled from Microsoft Update due to a bug (far less common.) So no, this isn't a matter of simply resetting a list. You need to look at your update strategy nd determine why these updates are not installed on some machines.
