Reporting services - displaying images from file server

Hello, I use Microsoft SQL Server Report Builder 3.0 and want to display images located on a file server (on same machine as reporting services).

If I try:
Source=External
Value = file:\\server\path\test.bmp

in design mode the image control displays the image. If I run the report, the picture is invisible.

If I link the value to a database field containing the correct image path, the result is the same.

If I do the same, but use ex relative path to the image from the report, all ok. The problem is that I want to use the path to the file server...

I use MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services

Best regards
Inge

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

You need to use the relative / full path of the image file in Report.

Example :  Value = "../Images/test.jpg"

Value = "http://www.yoursite.com/Images/test.jpg"
