How to use SCCM 2012 to get SQL edition

Last Modified: 2015-03-09
I have just been handed an urgent need to report all installations of SQL Server. The problem is I need a custom report that identifies the editions as well to determine if it is SQL Server or SQL Express.
I am on the ropes because 2012 doesn't use the MOF, and I have no idea how to pull anything beyond Versions.
There are SQL Server/Express for all releases from 2005 through 2014.
I must be able to identify which are SQL Express and which are SQL Server full because we are at a cross-road with licenses and need to true up ASAP.
Please any help or is this even possible?
