I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Since you want to work with Windows applications and authentication, Microsoft's Visual Studio is the program you want.  However, 'easy' is not a word I would use for the things you want.

Also Borland Developer Studio allows to do what you want, but I agree with Dave: agree is not the right word: http://www.embarcadero.com/products/rad-studio

Take a look at the comparison between CodeOnTime and Iron Speed

Both allow rapid development and work well in a Windows environment.

As mentioned in the previous posts it really depends on your needs and what you're trying to accomplish. For example, will MS SQL Server be your primary database? Are you building .NET applications using C# or VB.Net as a your code behind? Are you building for an intranet versus Internet site? Are you going to leverage Active Directory to control access within the application, etc?

Hi LajuanTaylor
Thanks for the given link on your post, I'm started my reading and making some product comparison, apparently  both of the products look good and the only factor is cost as I'm going to use my own pocket money .. but if it works no harm to spend over..

IronSpeed offers a free trial download that allows up to 30 Web Pages, 15  database tables, and 50 builds. I don't recall if they limit your ability to connect to Active Directory.
