Migrate SBS 2008 Company Web to Sharepoint Foundation 2013 SP1

We have migrated from SBS 2008 to Windows server2012R2.  All has gone well but we now need to move/migrate the companyweb sharepoint to the new server.

We have downloaded SharePoint 2013 foundation SP1 and need advice on how to install for the migration and how to transfer the Companyweb.

Many thanks for your help.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to do a Texas Two Step. ;)

Migrate current to SharePoint 2010 on 2008 R2.

Then migrate that to 2013 SP1 and update the UI post migration.

There may be some gotchas with the site's permissions with a need to reset them in SharePoint PowerShell.

Do I update to SharePoint 2013 on the SBS server or the new server?

How do I transfer the company web once the update has happened?

You Lave two choices, both of which we have done.

1: Install Share Point 2010 on SBS.
2: Install Share Point 2010 onto a temp VM.

Migrate to your final SharePoint 2013.

The first is not without its issues. The second works okay.

Either way the documentation is pretty good.
