Experts,

Using PHP I need to extract the value of the "focus_area" attribute from the following <div> so that the extracted value can be used in another PHP function.

//DIV TO EXTRACT VALUE FROM
<div id="open_projects" focus_area="Access"></div>

//ADD VALUE OF "focus_area" ATTRIBUTE IN "open_projects" DIV TO PHP VARIABLE
$focus_area = "<VALUE OF focus_area ATTR>";

//DEMONSTRATION OF HOW I WOULD TEST VALUE STORED IN $focus_area VARIABLE
if($focus_area = 'Access'){//DO SOMETHING}

Thank you for your assistance.

If the value is being set in the client, then you are way off base on how to access it. You will need client side scripting to append it to the url calling your php, or you will need to put it in the session variables, or you could ude a form field.  Any value in a tag attribute only exists on the client.

If you want to capture it on the server before you send the page, then capture it when you generate that line of code for the div.

You are correct. My way of going about this is misguided. I will need to rethinking the way I am going about this.

Cheers.
