Migrate Citrix License Server (XenApp 6.5)
Hello. We have a production XenApp 6.5 environment in which there are several XenApp servers and a separate Citrix License Server which is also the RDS Cal Server. My question is, we are migrating these servers to a new Windows Domain (same XenApp farm) and a new Server has been built for this purpose to replace the existing XenApp 6.5 License Server.
So, what is the best way to migrate the licenses from one server to another without too much disruption? Can they co-exist with the same licenses for the purpose of configuring the new server, or do I need to go to mycitrix and reallocate them and assign to the new host? What are the best steps to complete this process with minimal downtime?
An additional question, should I continue to keep the Citrix License server at version 11.10 for XenApp 6.5 or use the current License Server 11.12 which is available for XenApp 7, but supports older versions?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Does not impact the current license server, license file or any users. You are in technical violation of your license agreement but since this is for a license server move, that is why I suggested uninstalling the license server component after you have the new license server up and running and serving licenses.
It is not like Citrix has a backdoor agent running monitoring you.

Great, thank you, just a large farm, large number of users, looking for it to be seemless, thanks for your help.
Do it in the order I listed and it will be seamless.

Thanks, btw - An additional question, should I continue to keep the Citrix License server at version 11.10 for XenApp 6.5 or use the current License Server 11.12 which is available for XenApp 7, but supports older versions?
I always use the latest version. That is just my preference. If you have any issues, uninstall the latest version and install the once you were using before. License file will not change.
If install 11.10, you can upgrade to 11.12 and it will do an in-place upgrade. Some things do change with the latest version. Like making sure port 8083 is available on the server.
