outlook ost issues

Hi, We have a user experiencing some issues with his outlook account. Some sent items are not showing in his sent fodler, he created a meeting in his calendar but it does not show for him despite meeting recipients accepting the invite etc.
I put him onto cached mode and went to his .ost file to rename it. i noticed there is a file as

jbloggs@seven.com.pst and jbloggs@seven.com (2).pst

I renamed both of them to: jblo77ggs@seven.com.pst and jblo77ggs@seven.com (2).pst but when the pst was created again it was jbloggs@seven.com (2).pst .... strange, why the 2?

If jbloggs@seven.com.pst exists, then jbloggs@seven.com (2).pst is how they proceed without overwritten the file. This is incremented by default.

If this user uses Online mode with Outlook does he experience the same issue? Usually when things only affect one user it is most likely Outlook profile related or some caching that is now not in sync or corrupt. I would try creating a new Outlook profile first and also testing with Outlook online mode.

Hi Will, We are on a domain and when connected there is no option for anyone to select online mode which is normal. As said above I did try recreating the profile but to no avail, when it rebuilt the profile it had the (2) at the end of it. Weird.
