How to convert all chars in a string to their #&... equivalent?

Hi Experts,
Is there a way to convert all chars in a string to their #&<number> equivalent?
I would like to 'encrypt' my email address on my website using a routine that would convert the individual letters and the '@' sign in my email address to their #&<number> equivalent to hide my address by spammers.

Or, is there a utility site that will do this where I just enter in my email address and it returns the converted string?

I'm sure such a thing is available... but that method was broken by the spammers about 15 years ago.  They can automatically decode that.  In all my form pages, I put the email address in the PHP page that actually sends the email.  It is not visible there.
