mobile app development, html5, webviews

Hi Experts,
Can anyone point me to the best solution that would allow me to create a webview so that I could write native apps using HTML 5 - that needs to communicate back to the device?  Are protocol schemes the best way to go for this?  I know that protocol schemes are to call out of the app to the device - does one use JNDI to call back in?  Any other mechanisms?

Many thanks,
Mike

If I understand what you are talking about you might want to look here. http://www.appcelerator.com  Not a true native app, but allows you to build once and deploy to both android and iOS. It is essentially an html5/JavaScript solution.

Apache Cordova (Adobe PhoneGap) is my preferred solution. http://cordova.apache.org/ It has a plugin architecture to access native device functions. I have already developed an Android application using Cordova accessing BLE devices via my own Android code... NetBeans IDE supports Cordova project. https://netbeans.org/ To develop on PC, you could also use Ripple emulator with Google Chrome. http://ripple.incubator.apache.org/
