Is the Ultrabook still available? If yes then I would connect it back to that machine, boot that machine from a USB stick with cloning software such as a Rescue Kit Free from Paragon and copy out the data.

If you look at the pictures you will see that the number of connectors are less than the slots on the card - will that be an issue

I looked the serial number on your picture and it says: XM11-V2 (XM11 ZZF5)
And the Amazon description says:
Sandisk U100 Series &compatible Storage SASA5JK-256G SASA5JK-128G SASA5JK-064G ※ ADATA XM11 Series & compatible Storage ADATA XM11-256GB ADATA XM11-128GB
So it seems to be compatible. Is the storage from Asus Ultrabook?

This adapter is a good bit cheaper than the one noted above:

do these have usb connectors - I can't make them out

noxchoGlobal Support CoordinatorCommented:
No. They don't. But you can connect the drive to your PC internally. Or you use SATA to USB Box.

Where does this drive come? Is the Notebook still available? If yes then you do not need to buy anything. Do with a boot USB stick your task.

So how do I use these cards?
If I connect the SSD into the card, how exactly do I read it

Sorry - forget my last response
I assume I just connect the card to a SATA cable

Like a normal SATA drive.

"... I assume I just connect the card to a SATA cable ..." => Yes, the cards essentially just turn this unit into a standard 2.5" SATA drive.    You can connect it internally with SATA cables;  or connect it to a USB bridge device for use via a USB port.
