Windows 8.1 when turn on offline files on my network drive, only sync'd folders are accessible, all others have x for access denied.

Windows 8.1 when turn on offline files on my network drive, only sync'd folders are accessible, all others have x for access denied.  In Windows 7, used to have button to workoffline or online.  But, do not see that in Windows 8.  Has anyone else had this issue?  any recommendations?  thanks in advance.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Has the user changed their password lately. Are you using Windows 8.1 Pro or regular. If you are using the non Pro version then you would have to make sure that the network log on password is the same on the client PC and the server.  Also check the sharing permissions and the security  permissions on the folder that they need to get to on the server.
