SQL 2012 won't install on Dell Precision 490 running Windows 2012 RS
We have a Dell Precision 490 running Windows 2012 R2 fully patched and we are trying to load SQL 2012 w/SP2 and we are having issues. We can get through a good portion of the install and then it fails. We think we have it narrowed down to an issue with the BIOS reporting back a different sector size but we can't confirm that.
The error that we see in the event log is as follows;
Cannot use file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER \MSSQL\DAT A\master.m df' because it was originally formatted with sector size 4096 and is now on a volume with sector size 3072. Move the file to a volume with a sector size that is the same as or smaller than the original sector size.
We have been looking at the following tech info
