NMAP and ZENMAP are they ok to use?

are these safe to use ? do they contain any spyware or anything?

are they safe to download , is there any reason I should not use this tool to scan open ports in  my network ?

I have not used zenmap but I have and have used nmap. Get it from nmap.org and it is perfectly safe

The answer to your second question is a bit trickier. If you go scanning things that are not yours, your ISP may take a dim view. So know what you are scanning.
