Exhange 2007 Server 2008

I am looking to update our Exchange 2007 sp1 to Exchange 2007 sp3

When I go to run the service pack..
I get Error Message
Active Directory Schema is not up to date and Ldifde.exe is not installed on this computer
 Run ServerManagerCmd -I RSAT -ADDS

I have looked around. and this seems pretty straight forward.

But before I do. I try to ask the Experts and a final check and balance.

So its it as easy as running that command?

And what is actually happening that We have to install this?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can either run that command or you can install the roles manually from server manager. You need to have these installed on the Exchange server if you have not updated the schema on the domain controllers first.

Also, to upgrade the schema you need to be part of the following groups...
Schema Admins
Enterprise Admins
Domain Admins
Exchange Organizational Management.

This is a straightforward procedure.

Ensure you backup your AD before doing schema updates.
