Domain Controller keeps losing internet.

We have a server running  Small Business Server Essentials 2011.  We keep losing network connection and internet to the server about every 15 minutes.

The only thing that fixes the issue is to reboot the server and then it will lose connection again in about 15 minutes.  This started with rebooting and then it would be  a few days but now its to every 15 minutes.

We restart DNS and that does not fix issues.

What can we do to troubleshoot this issue?

Its an HP Proliant server.  I am going to swap network cable to another port on switch and see what that does.

Does the physical connection actually get disconnected or simply internet stop working? If it is internet only first thing i would check is the logs, system and application on the server. Also ensure that you update the drives first before replacing the hardware.

Great check if the switch port is an issue. I have worked with HP proliant's for about 7+ years now in an enterprise data center and usually if its not the switch port it ends up being firmware / driver issue. HP is notorious for having network connectivity issues related to factory installed firmware or mismatch between driver / firmware required levels.

I went ahead and updated the drivers and so far it looks stable.  But now instead of broadcom it shows NC drivers.  I will let you guys know how this goes.  Swapping ports didn't work.

At this point, try to perform the "final" test for your environment....

Buy a temporary USB Ethernet card and install it in your SBS.....verify if the problem is still active....

Let us know....
