# Generating sample data within a range

Hello,

I'm generating sample data in Excel, and I need to create random values within a percentage range.

For example, let's say I have a widget with an average cost of \$10.  With any given row, I want to generate values that are plus or minus 20% of \$10.  So, the value needs to be anywhere from \$8 to \$12.  I don't want any values that are less than \$8 or more than \$12.

Does anyone know a formula or function that can accomplish that?

Thanks.

Use =RANDBETWEEN(8,12) to get integer values from 8 to 12, or =RAND()*4+8 to get decimal values.
