Which is better setup ?

I am preping a SBS2011, and I have two spare cards to choose from, which would be better suited for a heavy database server ?

1. Adaptec 5805z - SATA-II + 512MB
2. Adaptec 6405E - SATA-III + 128MB

I plan to run 2 x Seagate Constellation II on HP onboard RAID1 (for OS and a low usage Exchange) and 4 x Constellation II on RAID10 (for the database and data) on one of the above card.
As these drives are SATA-III, I am guessing that using them on 6405E would yield better performance as they will be running at full speed, but the 5808z has a much larger cache instead but slower SATA-II speed.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

one has more cache and one has more speed, what to do? Its simple if you want speed then I go with Sata III,  if I want some buffer, then I'd go with Sata II however I prefer speed especially for high intensive work.

I would suggest the SATA-II with more cache will give you better results in 95% or more of the duty you will give it for a database, although the SATA-III would be better suited to large data file transfers or when backing up, for example.
