Can you use CIsco 7945G phones in Lync for enterprise telephony?

We currently are using Cisco UCM 7.1 with three 7825 servers. Next year I am planning to upgrade as the 7825s go EOL. But I want to investigate possibly replacing Cisco UCM with MS Lync. One real basic question - is there a way to use the Cisco 7945 phones with Lync to make phone calls?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Unfortunately you can't use 7945G's with Lync.

Here is the list of qualified IP phones supported with Lync/Skype deployments.

I have deployed Polycom VVX500's and they have been working fine.
