SQL 2012 Express update

I'm currently running SQL Express 2012 with advanced services, build 11.0.3128.00 on Server 2012 R2 and need to update to SQL Express 2012 build 11.0.3381.0.  I downloaded the file in the attached screen shot.

Is this the correct file?

Can I just apply this upgrade or do I need to uninstall and reinstall SQL Express 2012 with Advanced Services?

Do the users need to be out of programs that are using SQl databases during the upgrade?

Thanks,
cja

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, it's correct. But why apply the CU6 for SP1 when you SP2 is available?

Support for the one program that uses SQL said to upgrade to that version.  I just noticed that the update I downloaded is x86 but I have SQL Express 2012 64 bit installed.  Does it matter?

thanks,

cja

Yes, it matters. Download the 64bit version.
The hotfixes are exe files so you just need to execute them on the server and they will find the SQL Server instances that need to be upgraded.

I will download SP2 and apply that.

Do the users need to be out of programs that are using SQl databases during the upgrade?

If they aren't logged off they for sure will because the patch will stop SQL Server. A reboot may also be needed but it will inform you about that.
