Picture library in SharePoint 2010

Is it possible to allow a document library in Sharepoint 2010 to view photos as thumbnail, or I need to recreate a photo library for this purpose ?

Content types are nothing but a collection of attributes. For eg: Content type for a document is Title, description,Created by, Modified by columns.
Go to library settings > Advanced settings > "Enable" Allow management of Content types. After that you would find an option to add existing content types in document library settings.
Anyhow content type is not an answer for your question though I just thought of sharing if you are looking for a viceversa solution.

You cannot have a thumbnail view in document library for pictures. That's the reason we have a picture library feature. But if you want a thumbnail view for documents then you can upload documents in picture library by adding document library content type.
