You can add just www.1234.com to your DNS server, that's the easiest method.
If you really want to have only "1234.com", it will conflict with your internal domain.

add like "a" record or alias?

KimputerCommented:
"A" record would be the best. If 1234.com already exists in your DNS server, make a record for www in that domain.
