I need audit software that will work with Quick Book Files and is Free or low cost.

I am performing an audit on a Church by myself. I need help with preparing the correct documents for the report. I also need to keep track of the audit requirements. I am not a CPA, just taking the exams. This is not an official audit just an internal audit with real audit being next year.

You can do this two ways in your circumstance.

1. Ask the Church for an accountant copy (or just a copy) of the ledger. This assumes you have QuickBooks yourself and can open the ledger.

2. Ask the Church to export the General Ledger, Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Summary of Operations into one Excel Spreadsheet with multiple tabs and give this to you. This is how I provide ledgers to my various Accountants. This is probably the best way to go.

Then, you need vouchers (bills), deposits (donation records and other deposits), and bank reconciliations and set up a standard audit program (steps, not software) to review and verify the balance sheet and summary of operations.

I do this myself and it works.

Thanks. That is pretty much what is happening for me. I just wanted the reports to be a bit more official looking so thought I could get the correct templates and a software to help with that.

Accountants use Tax Prep and like software, but they use material such as above for working papers and the like.
