Length of CSS

HI Experts,

I am building a large web application, and I have 1 forms.css that I add ids to for each specific form/control if I need specific adjustments.

My question is that by the time I finish, I expect to have 2,000 + lines in my CSS, considering the rate that I am going up now. Can this hurt speed and performance of application?

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Well in general, smaller is faster.  But these pages on Experts Exchange are pretty large.  I don't have any sites with 2000 lines of CSS but I don't think it will be a big problem.

Wordpress is very popular. The built-in Twenty Fourteen theme on the current version uses style.css with over 4,200 lines.

Lots of developers use Bootstrap.css as a foundation and then add more css to it. The current un-minified file has over 6,500 lines.

2,000 + lines doesn't sound so bad.
