Where is IR Sensor on TiVo XL4 - for use with Remote Control Extender (Emitter)

I am trying to use an IR Emitter as part of a Remote Control System to control a TiVo XL4.
When I take a flashlight, I see something that looks like an IR Sensor to the left of the TiVo logo on the front of the unit.
However, I get no response when I send a signal through an emitter that I've tested with another device.

I am trying to eliminate obvious causes before I look at my codes.

Have I found the correct location for the IR Sensor on this device?

Thanks

It is to the left of the logo on the Roamio, but the XL4 is a Premiere, and on that it is supposed to be just to the right of the TiVo logo (I say "supposed to be" because I don't have one — I have a Roamio, a Series 3 HD, and several Series 2). Try the flashlight trick again and look to the right of the logo, which is where the TiVo forums say it's located on the Premiere. Regards, Joe

I don't think so. It's much more subtle than that. I just checked my Roamio (Series 5) and HD (Series 3), and they look nothing like your photo. For the Premiere (Series 4, which I don't have), I would believe the users in the TiVo forums (several of them) who are saying it is to the right of the TiVo logo. Check it out yourself with a web search for "tivo xl4 remote sensor location". Regards, Joe

Interesting! I wonder if there are different flavors of the XL4. In any case, thanks for posting what worked. Regards, Joe
