Make an Entity available to a class in VB.NET

Experts,

I am moving from VB.Net 2008 to VB.Net 2013 Community.  I am also starting to learn EntityFramework 6.x to use as a DAL to reduce the amount of coding that I need to do for a DAL layer.

In my project when I work with data I use a class that loads two Forms (an Editor and a Catalog)  The Catalog shows the data while the Editor is where I do the CRUD work.

The Class I use in the project loads both Forms (Editor/Catalog) with the View (Catalog) minimized.  My question is can I basically replace the dataset functionality with EF references that are created in the Class?  This way I can reference the Entity from both the Editor and the Catalog.  When I close the Class (Forms) then the variables are cleared.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Don't understand the question. Can you elaborate please

The class I am referring to uses DataTable and DataSet references and returns/handles these objects.  With EntityFrameworks this concept is different, but more atutomated with less coding for the developer.

So for example, how would I populate a WinForms DataGridView using EF?

You would just set the datasource of the grid to be a collection/List of your objects
