Where can I get information about school ratings? I was only told there are public Montessori schools as well.?

Those schools, the Montessori, are mainly for younger kids. Around the first grade you speak of. Look here and you see an informative article about Montessori classrooms and what parents can expect.

@nickg5: There are numerous Montessori schools that can (and do) maintain programs through high school.

For the OP, rating "public" Montessoris seems tricky. A Montessori (should) follow(s) specific practices that are the same in each school. So each Montessori school should have the same rating as every other. If they differ, are they rated more or less effective at the Montessori methods? Or is that school rated against non-Montessori methods and practices?
