Strange Connection Issue

This is weird please can someone help

Trying to connect to remote desktop if I try to connect via ip address 10.0.0.73 it asks for username and password, that gets typed then it just comes back with username and password box saying the wrong credentials were used.

if I then connect via server name with same credentials it works fine and after I have done that I can then connect via IP Address

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

it seems the terminal server is in a managed domain. if yes, that looks normal, and you have to enter something like "servername\" to log on using a local account. try a domain user instead, if domain users are allowed to access the computer over RDP.

This has never been an issue in the past though so why all of a sudden would this change?
