How do I move a domain that is in a multiple domain, 1 forest topology, out into it's own forest completely separate form everything else?

Greetings.  I have a scenerio where there is 1 forest and 3 domains under that forest (there's transitive trusts between each domain).  I would like to move one of those domains out into it own forest and be completely separate on it's own; no more trust.  Is this possible?

All servers running Window Server 2003.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

None are child domains... they're separate domains in an existing forest if that helps

In your case, better to create new forest and domain and then perform cross forest migration for AD objects. There are 3rd party tools, which can be used to perform smooth migration. Check Quest AD migration tool or give them a call.

I would also agree with Amit, with creating a completely new forest, then migrating the objects from the domains into the new forest. I personally would just use the ADMT for this as Quest is very expensive.
