Tracking traffic

I already have GA installed on a forum, but i would really like to track how many visitors visit a specific thread over a specified time period.
For example I would like to track total number of  thread views,  segment between unique and repeats visits

I don't know if it already being track through GA or if there is something additional I can do or need to do.
Your thoughts are most welcome.
Thank you

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hmm, I'm not as familiar with GA as I am familiar with Adobe Analytics (formally Omniture Site Catalyst).  My team member Brenae might have the perfect article already written for you explaining how Adobe Analytics does this type of tracking on Visits and Hits!

All the best.

If the forum uses search engine friendly url's, then there is likely a unique page for every thread. You should be able to drill down to what you're looking for in GA via:

Behavior > Site Content > All Pages

At the top of the page, you can Segment based on "Returning Users" and "New Users".
