ASP.NET Move Solution from one Server to another

Hi ,

I am not sure this is possible . Please see my requiremnt below

I have created a WebAppln  with ASP.NET ( Version 2010)   named  MyWeb under the folder E:\DEV

Now I want to move it to an identical server ( With different Servername  )

The SiteName can be same  , but  I need it under the folder  E:\STAGING

But when I try to open the .Sln file, It is not opening   ( I think if I edit the .Sln file in notepad for the new path , It may work . But is there a way of having the Relative path ?)

  Thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

You need to copy all the files related to that Project.

1. Open the Project in VS 2010 & Right-Click on the Project Solution

2. Click on the Open Folder In File Explorer

3. Copy the complete project folder & paste it in new server machine E;\STAGIN

4. Now try to Open the solution

Actually I have all the Files copied .

Infact when I open the Soluton file in notepad, I can see an entry with  Fullpath . If I  edit it for the new path, I can open the solution.

What I want to make sure is, is there a way I can keep the relative path ?
