Exchange 2007 autodiscover finds local server not external server

Hi,

We have moved to an off premise Exchange Server but out of office fails as I don't think it is looking externally for the records. I have dismounted the information store and external users can set Out Of Office all ok. I need to remove exchange from the server but will have to get downtime for this to occur.

any ideas what would be stopping this ?

Thanks

You need to do more than that to get clients to find an external server.
Clients will always look to do the domain first and because Exchange is internal, they will find the internal server.

The best option is to remove Exchange completely. That should remove all records from the domain.
You could also try running this command in EMS:

get-clientaccessserver | set-clientaccessserver -AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI https://host.example.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

Where host.example.com is the name of the host your external provider has given you for Autodiscover.

However ideally you need to remove Exchange completely, rather than leave it hanging around.

Simon.
